Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, Garfield Park Academy provides age-appropriate instruction in Family Life Education as part of our Health curriculum.
Below you’ll find overviews of the Family Life Education topics that may be taught to your child during the school year, depending on their grade levels. We encourage you to review this information and contact us if you have any questions about the curriculum or how it is presented in your child’s classroom.
If you believe that any portion of the Family Life Education curriculum conflicts with your sincerely held moral or religious beliefs, New Jersey law (N.J.S.A. 18A:35-4.7) allows you to request that your child be excused from those specific lessons. To do so, please submit a signed written request to the Principal.
There will be no academic penalty, loss of credit, or impact on your child’s educational program if you choose to have your child excused from these lessons.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office. We appreciate your partnership in supporting your child’s education.
Sincerely,
Brittany Harmening
Curriculum Coordinator
