LaMont Smith, 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist in the men’s 4×400 meter relay, will be visiting with students and staff of Garfield Park Academy before attending the 2015 Penn Relays.
Smith, whose hometown is Willingboro, is coming home with a plan. He is launching The LaMont Smith Foundation with the mission to support youth by providing resources to enrich their educational experience, maximize their learning potential and prepare them for a successful life.
[blockquote align=”left” variation=”blue” cite=”LaMont Smith”]I’m looking forward to spending time with the students and staff. I attended Willingboro High School with some of the teachers and counselors at this school. The staff at Garfield Park Academy is a prime example of what happens when you invest back in to your community. It’s important for those of us whom have benefited from the rich educational history of the Willingboro community to give back.[/blockquote]
