Automotive Technology Center Dedicated to Long-Time Educator Pasqual Galeone

The Automotive Center at Garfield Park Academy was recently dedicated as The Galeone Automotive Training Center, named for Pasqual Galeone, who served as the director of GPA’s automobile technology program. Galeone supervised instruction there for hundreds of teens and young adults—mostly men—interested in exploring a career in auto maintenance. The 90-year-old Galeone was humbled. [...]

Dr. Steven Morse Honored for Cutting-Edge Work in Special Education

Dr. Steven Morse, Superintendent of Garfield Park Academy, was recently honored by the international Teaching-Family Association for his progressive approach to the education of students with disabilities. The award recognizes an individual for significant contributions to the development, refinement and implementation of the Teaching-Family Model, an evidence-based approach to treatment for at-risk youth.

GPA’s Automotive Program Receives National Accreditation

Garfield Park Academy’s automotive program has received accreditation from the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), and The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), making it the only state-approved private school for students with disabilities in New Jersey to have an accredited program.

Improving Academic & Social Development with Biofeedback

When most people hear the word "biofeedback," the last thing they think of is elementary and high school classrooms. But if you ask students at Garfield Park Academy in Willingboro, NJ, they'll tell you about it as matter-of-factly as if it were today's math homework. Biofeedback is nothing new at the School; they’ve been using it there for nearly fifteen years in their clinical work with students.
