Pasqual A. Galeone - In Memoriam for Mr. Pat

Pasqual A. Galeone

With sadness and deep respect, Garfield Park Academy marks the passing of Pasqual Galeone. Beloved teacher, valued mentor, and friend to the entire GPA School Family, “Mr. Pat” was an integral part of so much we do at GPA, both professionally and personally.

His work establishing and directing GPA’s vocational Automotive Program reached hundreds of teens and young adults, providing them with the self-esteem, emotional and academic growth, and skills they needed for success in work and life.

In recognition of his work and significant contributions, last year GPA dedicated its Automotive Program to Mr. Pat, and renamed the program and facility “The Galeone Automotive Training Center.” The program is the only automotive program of a state-approved private school for students with disabilities in New Jersey to be accredited by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), and The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

Mr. Pat’s professional achievements were exceeded by his personal connections to the GPA Family. He was an honorary father, ‘Poppy Pat,’ to Nell and Tom Peluso, their 2 children and 5 grandchildren. Scores of GPA graduates count him among the most influential and kind-hearted adults in their lives, and for many visiting graduates, the Automotive Center was the first stop they made when they returned to us.

Mr. Pat will be greatly missed, and our remembrance of his life and legacy of caring will guide us as we continue his work.
