Garfield Park Academy knows that students benefit when parents, social workers, psychologists and other clinicians work together to support the education of students. GPA’s parent programs are designed to encourage mutual respect between parent and child and to foster cooperation, responsibility, and self-reliance.
GPA provides Parent Education Programs at the school periodically to provide information and share parenting and teaching strategies that work for students. Morning sessions (9:30 a.m.) and Evening sessions (6:30 p.m.) are usually available.
Babysitting and transportation are provided for the convenience of families. Contact your child’s social worker to make arrangements.
Parent Support Groups are held regularly and provide an excellent forum for sharing ideas with fellow parents and school staff. Although there may be a theme for each meeting, the forums are generally held as open discussions.
GPA also provides referrals to outside resources and information for parents when appropriate.
